Nevell Group Inc. (NGi) is honored to receive the Project of the Year Award from the January 29, 2020 program sponsored by the Western Wall & Ceiling Contractor Association (WWCCA). The Walter F. Pruter Awards recognizes projects that exemplify the union construction work of a WWCCA contractor and serves to highlight how the scope of work that the association’s members provide contributes to the overall success of a project. Projects are judged by overall design, quality of workmanship, and the use of materials specific to the WWCCA trades.
This year NGI won for their work on the Google Spruce Goose in Playa Vista and was recognized for the Interior Renovation/TI category.
This project presented the NGi team with a unique opportunity to complete the renovation of an existing 319,000 square foot aircraft hangar. The core and shell project transformed the existing historic hanger structure into a 4-story multi-use facility that integrates creative office space, workstations, collaborative and shared workspaces, and a range of amenity program spaces, including food service options, event spaces, and a theater.

Subbed out acoustical K-13
Engineering self-supporting structural pods
Event production studios
Matt Construction was the general contractor and the project was designed by Zimmer Gunsel Frasca Architects.
