What Employee Ownership Means at NGi

During ESOP Month, we asked NGi employee-owners to share what ownership means to them, how it influences their work, and what they hope it creates for the future of our company.

At Nevell Group, being 100% employee-owned is about more than having a stake in the company. It creates a connection between the work we do today and the company we are building for tomorrow.

Throughout ESOP Month, members of our ESOP Committee shared their perspectives on ownership. Their responses touched on pride, accountability, collaboration, opportunity, and a shared responsibility to leave NGi stronger for the people who come next.

Building on What Came Before Us

For Project Executive Chris Valvo, employee ownership carries a sense of responsibility to both the people who built NGi and those who will follow.

“Being an employee-owner at NGi carries a greater sense of pride, knowing the founders were thinking about people like me long before I arrived 10 years ago. It aligns with one of our core values: take care of our people, and they will take care of the rest.”

Chris also sees ownership as an opportunity to continue creating something meaningful for the next generation of NGi employees.

That long-term perspective is an important part of ownership. The decisions made today can create opportunities well beyond an individual project, role, or career.

Understanding the Impact of Our Work

For Mel Stevens, ownership reinforces the importance of every individual contribution.

“Being an employee-owner at NGi is taking pride in what we do and understanding that our individual contributions, no matter how big or small, have a lasting impact on the success of the entire company.”

That perspective extends to supporting teammates, doing the right thing for customers, and making decisions with the long-term success of NGi in mind.

Steve Flanagan sees that same connection in the everyday decisions project teams make.

“It really is our company. Obviously, we always want to do a great job on our projects, but I think being an owner in the company really drives that home.”

From controlling costs and reducing waste to managing materials and strengthening relationships with clients, Steve sees ownership keeping the bigger picture top of mind.

Working Better Together

Ownership also creates an opportunity to look beyond individual responsibilities and consider how teams can make the company stronger together.

For Pedro Morales, collaboration is an important part of that.

“I hope employee ownership encourages people to take initiative, share knowledge, and look for better ways to work across departments.”

He points specifically to stronger collaboration between BIM, Operations, and the Field as an example of what that mindset can create.

It is a broader sense of responsibility: not only completing individual tasks, but also looking for ways to improve how NGi works as a whole.

Creating Shared Opportunity

For Karla McCabe, the ESOP represents both empowerment and shared success.

“Our ESOP represents a positive shift toward employee empowerment and shared goals of success, not just today but for the future of our company.”

That connection between individual opportunity and company growth is also what makes ownership meaningful to Ruslan Chlek.

His perspective is simple:

“When I work hard, I’m not just building someone else’s future, I’m building my own.”

Together, those perspectives capture an important part of the ESOP: as NGi grows and succeeds over the long term, our employee-owners have the opportunity to share in that success.

A Company That Provides for Generations

Looking ahead, Estimating Director Jeremy Mills hopes employee ownership strengthens both the opportunities available to NGi employees and the culture that has helped shape the company.

“I hope employee ownership creates a stronger, more unified company where people feel valued, take pride in what they do, and have a meaningful opportunity to benefit from the company’s growth.”

For Jeremy, that vision extends even further.

“I want NGi to be a company that provides for generations, creating long-term financial opportunities for its employee-owners while maintaining the culture and values that make it a great place to work.”

His perspective brings many of the themes shared throughout ESOP Month together.

Employee ownership connects where NGi has been with where we are going. It gives our people an opportunity to contribute to the company’s success, benefit from its growth, and help create opportunities for those who will follow.

We’re Invested in What’s Next

Being 100% employee-owned does not change the importance of delivering great work, supporting our clients, or working together as one team. It gives those responsibilities additional meaning.

The work we do, the decisions we make, and the company we continue to build are connected to a future we all have a stake in.

Creating opportunity. Moving NGi forward.
